When people in Assam search "aepds assam" or "rcms assam", they usually want one of two things: to see ration shop distribution data, or to check a ration card. The central National Food Security portal, nfsa.gov.in, lists epos.assam.gov.in as Assam's ePoS portal and rcms.assam.gov.in as its ration card portal. It also lists 70,39,772 ration cards for Assam.
This guide is independent. It is not connected with the Assam food department or any government body, and it never asks for ration card numbers, Aadhaar or OTPs. We did not load the Assam sites ourselves, so menus may look different.

Assam's official ration portals
| Portal | Address | Main use |
|---|---|---|
| AePDS Assam (ePoS) | epos.assam.gov.in | Shop-wise transactions, stock and abstract reports from ePoS machines |
| RCMS Assam | rcms.assam.gov.in | Listed on nfsa.gov.in as Assam's ration card details portal |
Sources: nfsa.gov.in State_ePoS_Portals (updated 13 October 2026) and nfsa.gov.in Ration_Card_State_Portals (updated 12 October 2026). The Assam food department's own website (directorfcs.assam.gov.in) is commonly listed online; confirm it on the official portal or at your supply office.
What you can see on epos.assam.gov.in
Assam's AePDS site shares the standard AePDS page structure used by MP, Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Tripura. Common reports are:
- FPS sales register (FPS_Trans_Abstract.jsp): transactions at each fair price shop
- Sales-stock abstract (Stock_Interface.jsp): stock received and sold
- Key register (KeyRegCards_Interface.jsp): ration card and unit counts
- Complete abstract (CompleteAbstract.jsp): a state summary
Whether Assam's site offers an "RC Details" search, and what it asks for, is not confirmed in our sources. If you need card-level details, start with RCMS. See our general AePDS RC Details guide.
How to use RCMS and the AePDS reports
- Open nfsa.gov.in, go to Ration Card State Portals or State ePoS Portals and click Assam, or use the links above.
- Check the address: it should read rcms.assam.gov.in or epos.assam.gov.in.
- On RCMS, look for a public menu for ration card search, reports or beneficiary details. Labels change, so pick the closest option.
- On the AePDS site, choose the report you need, then the month, year, district and shop.
- If a box asks for a card number, type it only on the official page, never on a private site.
- If the page looks different or will not load, try later, or ask your local food and civil supplies office.
Assam and One Nation One Ration Card
Assam was the last state to join One Nation One Ration Card. As reported on 22 June 2022 (Drishti IAS), Assam became the 36th state or UT to implement it, completing national coverage. PRS also says portability was enabled in all 36 states and UTs as of February 2025.
What this means for Assam families:
- A cardholder working in another state can lift ration at any fair price shop in India after Aadhaar authentication, and family members at home can lift the balance.
- Workers from other states living in Assam can take their ration at Assam shops in the same way.
- The Mera Ration app shows entitlement and nearby shops, and 14445 is the national helpline for portability problems.
Entitlements under NFSA
| Card type | Monthly entitlement |
|---|---|
| Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) | 35 kg foodgrains per household |
| Priority Households (PHH) | 5 kg per person |
These are national entitlements published on nfsa.gov.in. Under PMGKAY the grain is free, with the Cabinet approving five years of free grain from 1 January 2024. Assam-specific extras are outside our fact sheets. Read ration card types for more on AAY and PHH.
e-KYC for Assam cardholders
The Department of Food and Public Distribution wrote to states on 25 June 2024 that NIC has enabled e-KYC at any fair price shop regardless of domicile. Where fingerprints fail, the NIC Mera eKYC app offers face authentication with an Aadhaar OTP. According to news reports, the TPDS (Control) Amendment Order, 2025 requires e-KYC every five years. No single national cut-off date for 2026 was found, so follow notices from Assam's food department. Our MP e-KYC page describes the app flow.
Common problems and where to go
| Problem | Where to start |
|---|---|
| Want to see if your shop got stock | Sales-stock abstract on epos.assam.gov.in |
| Card details or members look wrong | RCMS Assam, then your local supply office |
| Fingerprint fails at the shop | Ask about iris, OTP or face authentication, or use Mera eKYC |
| Ration refused in another state | National helpline 14445 |
| Dealer gives less grain | State helpline from the nfsa.gov.in toll-free list |
Safety reminders
- Use only gov.in addresses listed on nfsa.gov.in. Our AePDS directory lists all states.
- Checking reports and card details is free. Avoid agents who charge to "print" a card or "check status".
- Never share OTPs with callers. Officials do not need your OTP on the phone.
- For Assam's helpline, see the state toll-free list on nfsa.gov.in.
Frequently asked questions
What is RCMS Assam?
RCMS Assam is the state's ration card portal at rcms.assam.gov.in. The central nfsa.gov.in portal lists it as Assam's ration card details site. Use it for card-related information, and use epos.assam.gov.in for ration shop transaction and stock reports. We did not load RCMS ourselves, so check its menus for the exact options.
What is the AePDS Assam website?
It is epos.assam.gov.in, listed on nfsa.gov.in as Assam's ePoS portal. It follows the common AePDS structure with reports such as the FPS sales register, sales-stock abstract, key register of ration cards and a complete abstract. It is a report site, not a place to apply for a card.
How many ration cards are there in Assam?
The nfsa.gov.in ration card state portals page lists 70,39,772 ration cards for Assam, as per its update on 12 October 2026. These figures change as cards are added or deleted, so check the official portal for the latest number.
When did Assam join One Nation One Ration Card?
As reported on 22 June 2022, Assam became the 36th state or UT to implement One Nation One Ration Card, which completed coverage of all states and UTs. Since then, NFSA cardholders from Assam can lift ration in other states, and migrants from other states can do the same in Assam.
Can I do Assam ration card e-KYC from another state?
A DFPD letter of 25 June 2024 says e-KYC is enabled at any fair price shop regardless of domicile. You can also try face e-KYC through the NIC Mera eKYC app. If neither works, contact the Assam food and civil supplies office for help.
Is ration free for Assam cardholders?
Under PMGKAY, NFSA foodgrains are free across India, and the Union Cabinet approved free grain for five years from 1 January 2024. AAY households get 35 kg per month and priority households get 5 kg per person per month.
