About this site
Independent guide, not a government website

Please read this first: AePDS MP Guide (aepdsmp.net) is an independent information website. It is not run by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department, or the National Informatics Centre (NIC). The word "AePDS" in our domain name describes the topic we explain. It does not mean we are the AePDS portal. We do not issue ration cards, we do not do e-KYC, and we never ask for your ration card number, Samagra ID, Aadhaar number or OTP.

In Madhya Pradesh, ration is given at fair price shops (FPS, राशन दुकान) through a system called AePDS. Families who are eligible get a patrata parchi (पात्रता पर्ची, eligibility slip) linked to their Samagra family, rather than an old style ration card booklet. This guide explains every official portal in simple steps, tells you honestly where information is unconfirmed, and points you to the real government links so you can check things yourself.

हिंदी में सारांश

What is AePDS in Madhya Pradesh?

AePDS stands for Aadhaar enabled Public Distribution System. At the ration shop, the dealer uses an ePoS machine (electronic point of sale). You place your finger on the scanner, your Aadhaar is checked, and only then is ration issued. Most states pair this machine with an electronic weighing scale. If fingerprints fail, the fallbacks are iris scan, an OTP to the Aadhaar linked mobile, or face authentication.

The model began in Andhra Pradesh, which an NIC article from October 2015 called the first state to run ePoS in 100% of its fair price shops. Other states later adopted it. In Madhya Pradesh, about 22,000 ration shops were on Ae-PDS by October 2019, according to a 2020 news report. Today the central portal nfsa.gov.in reports 25,103 operational ePoS devices in MP and 4,88,403 across India.

The state AePDS website, epos.mp.gov.in, publishes reports from these machines: how many cards each shop serves, what was sold, and how much stock is left. Read our epos.mp.gov.in report guide for a walkthrough.

Patrata parchi: MP's eligibility slip

MP issues a patrata parchi (eligibility slip), sometimes called khadyan parchi, linked to the family's Samagra Family ID. Ration Mitra has an official page titled "पात्रता पर्ची प्राप्त करें" (get eligibility slip). Its exact fields were not confirmed when we researched it, so read our khadyan parchi guide for the commonly described steps and the honest caveats.

To get a new slip, the official form "राशन पात्रता पर्ची हेतु आवेदन" is submitted to the Gram Panchayat in villages or the urban body ward office in towns. See how to apply for an MP ration card and who is eligible.

What you get: entitlements

According to the MP State Civil Supplies Corporation (mpscsc.mp.gov.in), the entitlements are:

  • Priority households (प्राथमिक परिवार): 5 kg foodgrain per member per month.
  • Antyodaya (AAY): 35 kg per family per month.
  • Salt: 1 kg per family. Double-fortified salt in 89 tribal blocks, iodised salt elsewhere.
  • Sugar: Rs 20 per kg, for AAY families only.

Grain is free under PMGKAY. The Union Cabinet decided on 29 Nov 2023 to give free foodgrains to about 81.35 crore NFSA beneficiaries for five years from 1 Jan 2024. Our ration card types page explains AAY and PHH.

How to use this guide: common tasks

Most visitors want one of these things. Follow the matching steps.

  2. Get a copy of your slip: read MP ration card download for the patrata parchi page and the Mera Ration app.
  3. Look up card details on AePDS: see AePDS RC details.
  4. Finish e-KYC: go to your ration shop or use the Mera eKYC app if fingerprints fail. Details in MP ration card e-KYC.
  5. Take ration in another district or state: see One Nation One Ration Card.

Stay safe: scams and fake websites

  • Never share your OTP or Aadhaar number with an unknown caller, SMS or WhatsApp message, even if they say they are from the food department.
  • Ration card work is done at the ration shop, the Gram Panchayat or ward office, Lok Seva Kendra, or on official .gov.in and .nic.in websites. Be careful with agents who promise a card for money.
  • Do not pay extra money for e-KYC at the ration shop beyond any charge officially allowed. If someone asks, complain on 181.
  • This website does not collect any personal data and has no login. If a site asks for your Aadhaar and claims to be "AePDS MP", check the address bar first.

Frequently asked questions

Is aepdsmp.net the official AePDS MP website?

No. aepdsmp.net is an independent guide. The official AePDS MP portal is epos.mp.gov.in, and ration card details for MP are on rationmitra.nic.in. Both are listed on the central government portal nfsa.gov.in. We do not issue cards, do e-KYC or collect any personal data, so never send your Aadhaar, Samagra ID or OTP to this site or anyone claiming to represent it.

What is the full form of AePDS?

AePDS means Aadhaar enabled Public Distribution System. Ration is issued at the fair price shop only after the beneficiary's Aadhaar is checked on an ePoS machine, usually by fingerprint. If fingerprints fail, iris, OTP on the Aadhaar linked mobile or face authentication can be used. The system started in Andhra Pradesh and was later adopted by other states, including Madhya Pradesh.

How many ration cards are there in Madhya Pradesh?

The central portal nfsa.gov.in shows 1,31,34,379 ration cards in MP (13,90,673 AAY and 1,17,43,706 priority household cards), on a page updated 13 Oct 2026. The same page lists 24,713 fair price shops. The numbers are updated as states report, so the figure you see on the portal may be slightly different.

Does MP give a ration card or a patrata parchi?

Madhya Pradesh issues a patrata parchi (eligibility slip) linked to the family's Samagra Family ID rather than a traditional ration card booklet. People still call it a ration card. The slip can be looked up through the official Ration Mitra page titled 'पात्रता पर्ची प्राप्त करें'. New slips are applied for through the Gram Panchayat or the urban body ward office.

Which helpline should I call for an MP ration problem?

For complaints, call 181, the CM Helpline, which nfsa.gov.in also lists as the PDS grievance channel. 1967 is the food and PDS helpline listed for MP. The MP food department's toll-free number on scm.mp.gov.in is 1800-3456-194. For problems taking ration in another state under One Nation One Ration Card, the national helpline is 14445.

Is e-KYC still required for MP ration?

Yes, e-KYC links each member to Aadhaar and is required to keep receiving ration. As reported by AajTak in December 2025, 93% of MP beneficiaries had finished it. Under the TPDS Amendment Order 2025, as reported, e-KYC is to be repeated every five years. We found no fixed MP deadline for 2026, so ask your ration shop.
